Last month, auctions at the Ukrainian Energy Exchange for untreated timber showed the following results:
- the exhibited volume amounted to 503.59 thousand cubic meters;
- 443.29 thousand cubic meters of wood were sold;
- the cost of timber sales amounted to UAH 1.53 billion (including VAT);
- forestry enterprises received additional income during the English auction in the amount of UAH 219.04 million (including VAT).
The distribution of untreated timber sales was as follows: 56% - round timber, 44% - firewood.
Last month, untreated timber was sold in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytsky, and other regions.
Round timber
During the reporting period, the company sold 246.87 thousand cubic meters of roundwood for a total of UAH 1.21 billion (including VAT).
Pine, spruce, and oak were the most popular species sold, with a share of 50.59%, 32.67%, and 5.27%, respectively. We also sold such species as fir, beech, ash, aspen, linden and others.
The maximum average increase from the starting price was recorded at 41%. Given that the auction step is 1%, the maximum arithmetic mean number of steps was 41 for aspen, 40 for red oak, and 25 for birch.
Firewood
During the reporting period, the volume of firewood sales amounted to 196.42 thousand cubic meters for the amount of UAH 325.19 million (including VAT).
The vast majority of firewood (76%) was sold for industrial use, while 24% was sold for non-industrial use.
Among firewood, pine firewood was in the highest demand, accounting for 57% of the total volume.

Price indices
The weighted average prices for most round timber decreased compared to last month.
The largest increase was recorded for fir, which reached UAH 4,041.39 per cubic meter (including VAT). One of the main reasons was the increased demand for a higher quality class compared to the previous period.
A completely different price trend was observed for alder. The price of this wood species experienced the largest decline, amounting to UAH 3,254.01 per cubic meter (including VAT). In March, the demand for alder decreased and shifted towards lower quality grades.

Price indices for firewood increased. The most significant changes were seen in the price of non-industrial firewood of the second group. It has now reached the level of UAH 1,645.84 per cubic meter (including VAT).
The smallest change in price was for wood of the first group of non-industrial use, up 3% to UAH 1,489.69 per cubic meter (including VAT).
