Over the past week, antreated timber auctions at the Ukrainian Energy Exchange showed the following results:

  • Exhibited volume was 12,38 th. c. m;
  • Sold timber 7,02 th. c. m;
  • Timber sales cost was UAH 27,38 mln (incl. VAT);
  • Forestry agencies received additional income during the English auction in the amount of UAH 1,28 million (including VAT).

Untreated timber sales was carried out by forestries from 5 regions of Ukraine. The largest volume was sold in the Kyiv region.

Distribution of untreated timber sales was as follows: 97% – round timber, 3% – firewood.

Round timber

During the reporting period, 6,83 thousand cubic meters of round timber were sold for a total amount of UAH 27,06 million (including VAT).

The most sold species were pine, oak and larch, where the share of their sales in the overall structure was 67,55%, 16,29% and 7,16%, respectively. There was also the sale of such species as fir, spruce, alder, linden, ash and others.

The average increase from the starting price at English auctions was 6%. Given that the auction step is 1%, the highest average was for beech – 31, alder – 27, spruce – 22.

Firewood

During the reporting period, the volume of firewood sales amounted to 197 cubic meters for the amount of UAH 319.95 thousand (including VAT).

The vast majority of firewood (74%) was sold for industrial use, while 26% was sold for non-industrial use.

Among firewood, the most popular species were larch and aspen, accounting for 53% and 22%, respectively.

Price indices

The largest upward trend among the price indices for round timber was shown by birch, where the increase amounted to 16% with a cost of 5868,77 UAH/cubic m including VAT.

In turn, the maximum decrease was observed for alder. The weighted average price index amounted to 4591,11 UAH/cubic m including VAT, which is 26% less than last week’s figures.

The price index for firewood for industrial use decreased to 1851,52 UAH/cubic meter including VAT, which is 4% less than in the previous period.

Among all types of firewood, firewood for non-industrial use of the third group fell the most in price - its average price was 990 UAH/cubic meter including VAT, which is 17% less than the previous value.
