Over the last week, auctions on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange for untreated timber showed the following results:
- the exhibited volume amounted to 10.40 thousand cubic meters;
- 9.37 thousand cubic meters of timber were sold;
- the sale price of timber amounted to UAH 54.56 million (including VAT);
- forestry enterprises received additional income during English auctions in the amount of UAH 11.08 million (including VAT).
The sale of untreated timber was carried out by forestry enterprises from seven regions of Ukraine. The largest volume was sold in the Zhytomyr region.
The distribution of untreated timber sales was as follows: 78% – round timber, 22% – firewood.
Round timber
During the reporting period, 7.30 thousand cubic meters of round timber were sold for a total amount of UAH 50.61 million (including VAT).
The most sold species were birch, pine and oak, where their share in the overall structure was 29.65%, 20.68% and 19.42% respectively. There was also the sale of such species as spruce, ash, alder, fir, aspen and others.
The average increase from the starting price at English auctions was 20%. Given that the auction step is 1%, the highest average was for ash – 48, hornbeam – 26, birch – 23.
Firewood
During the reporting period, the volume of sales of firewood amounted to 2.07 thousand cubic meters for the amount of 3.95 million UAH (including VAT).
The vast majority of firewood (90%) was sold for industrial use, while 10% was sold for non-industrial use.
Among firewood, pine and softwood were in the greatest demand, accounting for 34% and 29%, respectively.

Price indices
The largest upward trend among the price indices for round timber was shown by spruce, where the growth amounted to 41% with a cost of 6,112.33 UAH/cubic m including VAT.
In turn, the maximum decrease was observed for oak. The weighted average price index amounted to 17,476.48 UAH/cubic m including VAT.

The price index for firewood for non-industrial use of the second group increased the most, reaching 1,510.08 UAH/cubic m including VAT, which is 3% more compared to the previous period.
Among all types of firewood, the cost of firewood of the third group has decreased the most, which now amounts to 663.03 UAH/cubic m including VAT, which is 20% less than the previous figure.
