Over the last week, auctions on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange for untreated timber showed the following results:
- the exhibited volume was 13.90 thousand cubic meters;
- 12.95 thousand cubic meters of wood were sold;
- the cost of selling wood was 48.3 million UAH (including VAT);
- forestry enterprises received additional income during the English auction in the amount of 7.82 million UAH (including VAT).
Untreated timber was sold by forestry enterprises from 5 regions of Ukraine. The largest volume was sold in Zhytomyr region.
The distribution of untreated timber sales was as follows: 54% – firewood, 46% – round timber.
Round timber
During the reporting period, 5.96 thousand cubic meters of round timber were sold for a total amount of UAH 34.73 million (including VAT).
The most sold species were pine, spruce and oak, where their share in the overall structure was 48.95%, 21.86% and 10.36%, respectively. There was also the sale of such species as beech, hornbeam, aspen, ash, fir and others.
The average increase from the starting price at English auctions was 27%. Given that the auction step is 1%, the highest average was for linden – 69, alder – 60, hornbeam – 51.
Firewood
During the reporting period, the volume of sales of firewood amounted to 6.99 thousand cubic meters for the amount of 13.57 million UAH (including VAT).
The vast majority of firewood (88%) was sold for industrial use, while 12% was sold for non-industrial use.
Among firewood, aspen and pine were in the greatest demand, accounting for 65% and 18%, respectively.

Price indices
The largest upward trend among the price indices for round timber was shown by ash, with a price of 12,529.21 UAH/cubic m including VAT.
In turn, the maximum decrease was observed for birch. The weighted average price index amounted to 3,837.05 UAH/cubic m including VAT.

The price index for firewood for non-industrial use of the first group increased the most, reaching 2,740.33 UAH/cubic m including VAT.
The most stable remained the cost of firewood for industrial use, which now amounts to 1,911.57 UAH/cubic m including VAT, which is 10% more than the previous figure.
