Untreated timber auctions at Ukrainian Energy Exchange showed the following results last week:
- Exhibited volume was 8,76 th. c. m;
- Timber sold for 8,20 th. c. m;
- Timber sales value was UAH 35,02 mln. (incl. VAT);
- Forestry farms received additional income during English auction for the amount of UAH 9,46 mln. (incl. VAT).
Untreated timber sales was carried out by forestry farms from 6 regions of Ukraine. The largest volume was sold in Khmelnytskyi region.
Distribution of untreated timber sales was as follows: 50,1% – round timber, 49,9% – firewood.
Round timber
During the reporting period, 4,11 th.c.m. of round timber were sold for a total of UAH 23,89 mln. (including VAT).
The largest share of sales was accounted for by pine, spruce, and oak, which accounted for 45,45%, 15,72%, and 12,09% of total sales, respectively. Other species such as fir, hornbeam, birch, ash, red oak, and others were also sold.
On average, increase from the starting price at English auctions was 34%. Considering that the auction step is 1%, the highest average was for red oak – 117, ash – 67, pine – 46.
Firewood
During the reporting period, the volume of firewood sales amounted to 4,09 th. c. m. worth UAH 11,13 million (including VAT).
The vast majority of firewood (97%) was sold for industrial use, while 3% was sold for non-industrial use.
Among firewood, hardwood species and pine wood were in the highest demand, accounting for 44% and 41% respectively.

Price indexes
The largest upward trend among the price indices for round timber was shown by oak, with a cost of 33 149,38 UAH/cubic meter including VAT.
In turn, the maximum decline was observed for fir. The weighted average price index was 3 460,41 UAH/cubic meter, including VAT.

Price index for industrial firewood rose the most, reaching 2739,89 UAH/cubic meter including VAT.
Among all types of firewood, the cost of the second group fell the most, now standing at 1410,00 UAH/cubic meter including VAT, which is 31% less than the previous figure.
