Over the last week, auctions on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange for untreated timber showed the following results:
- the volume offered amounted to 6.73 thousand cubic meters;
- 5.84 thousand cubic meters of timber were sold;
- the sale price of timber amounted to UAH 31.72 million (including VAT);
- forestry enterprises received additional income during English auctions in the amount of UAH 4.30 million (including VAT).
The sale of untreated timber was carried out by forestry enterprises from five regions of Ukraine. The largest volume was sold in the Kyiv region.
The distribution of sales of untreated timber was as follows: 77% – round timber, 23% – firewood.
Round timber
During the reporting period, 4.48 thousand cubic meters of round timber were sold for a total amount of UAH 29.42 million (including VAT).
Pine, oak, and alder were the most sold, accounting for 44.18%, 41.18%, and 2.85% of total sales, respectively. There was also the sale of such species as beech, birch, sharp-leaved maple, aspen, red oak, and others.
On average, the increase from the starting price at English auctions was 27%. Given that the auction increment is 1%, the highest average price was for beech – 51, aspen – 45, and birch – 41.
Firewood
During the reporting period, sales of firewood amounted to 1.36 thousand cubic meters worth UAH 2.30 million (including VAT).
The vast majority of firewood (93%) was sold for industrial use, while 7% was sold for non-industrial use.
Among firewood, aspen and softwood species were in highest demand, accounting for 70% and 10% respectively.

Price indices
Birch showed the strongest upward trend among round timber price indices, with a cost of 6,382.50 UAH/cubic meter including VAT.
In turn, the maximum decline was observed for pine. The weighted average price index was 4,352.36 UAH/cubic meter including VAT, which is 19% less than last week’s figures.

The price index for industrial firewood decreased the most, reaching 1,745.15 UAH/cubic meter including VAT.
The cost of non-industrial firewood in the second group has also decreased and now stands at 1,056.00 UAH/cubic meter including VAT, which is 25% less than the previous figure.
