Over the last week, auctions on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange of untreated timber showed the following results:

  • the volume offered amounted to 5.72 thousand cubic meters;
  • 5.32 thousand cubic meters of timber were sold;
  • the sale price of timber amounted to UAH 21.78 million (including VAT);
  • forestry enterprises received additional income during English auctions in the amount of UAH 4.5 million (including VAT).

The sale of untreated timber was carried out by forestry enterprises from six regions of Ukraine. The largest volume was sold in the Zhytomyr region.

The distribution of raw timber sales was as follows: 69% round timber, 31% firewood.

Round timber

During the reporting period, 3.68 thousand cubic meters of round timber were sold for a total amount of UAH 18.89 million (including VAT).

The largest sales were for oak, pine, and beech, which accounted for 57.07%, 28.34%, and 6.94% of total sales, respectively. Other species sold included ash, spruce, hornbeam, and others.

On average, the increase from the starting price at English auctions was 51%. Considering that the auction increment is 1%, the highest average was for ash – 131, oak – 54, and pine – 44.

Firewood

During the reporting period, sales of firewood amounted to 1.65 thousand cubic meters worth UAH 2.88 million (including VAT).

The vast majority of firewood (75%) was sold for industrial use, while 25% was sold for non-industrial use.

Price indices

The largest upward trend among the price indices for round timber was seen in beech, which rose by 16% to UAH 5,328.35/m³ including VAT.

In turn, the maximum decline was observed for oak. The weighted average price index was 17,141.14 UAH/cubic meter, including VAT.

Over the week, firewood price indices mostly declined.

The price of wood for industrial use showed the greatest decline. Currently, it stands at 1,933.89 UAH/cubic meter, including VAT.

The price of non-industrial timber in group 2 remained unchanged at UAH 2,030.40/cubic meter, including VAT.
