As of the last week auctions at the Ukrainian Energy Exchange showed the following results:

  • Exhibited volume was 95,11 th.c.m.;
  • Sold timber 93,93 th.c.m.;
  • Timber sales value UAH 546,51 mln. (incl. VAT);
  • Forest agencies received additional income during English auction trades for the amount of UAH 238,28 mln. (incl. VAT).

Untreated timber sales was made by forestry enterprises from 5 regions of Ukraine. The largest volume was sold in Khmelnytskyi region.

Distribution of untreated timber sales was as follows: 55% – round timber, 45% – firewood.

Round timber

During the reporting period, 51,27 thousand cubic meters of round timber were sold for a total of UAH 430,34 million (including VAT).

The largest number of sold pine, oak and hornbeam, where the share of their sales in the overall structure was 53,47%, 17,96% and 10,71%, respectively. There was also the sale of such species as spruce, ash, larch, maple, beech and others.

The average increase from the starting price at English auctions was 67%. Given that the auction step is 1%, the highest average was for poplar – 102, ash – 96, aspen – 93.

Firewood

During the reporting period, the volume of firewood sales amounted to 42,66 thousand cubic meters for the amount of UAH 116,17 million (including VAT).

The vast majority of firewood (97%) was sold for industrial use, while 3% was sold for non-industrial use.

Among firewood, hardwood firewood was in the greatest demand, accounting for 56% of total sales.

Price indices

The largest increase among the price indices for round timber was recorded for ash - its weighted average cost was UAH 10877,32 cubic m including VAT.

In contrast, the largest decrease was noted for oak, where the weighted average price index was UAH 29634,23 cubic m including VAT, which is lower than the results of the previous week.

Over the past week, there has been an increase in the price indices for firewood.

The most noticeable increase was in the price of non-industrial wood of the first group, the average price of which reached 1960,82 UAH/cubic m including VAT.

The smallest changes occurred in the cost of firewood for industrial use - its price is now 2744,85 UAH/cubic m including VAT.

At the same time, the price of firewood for non-industrial use of the third group remained at the level of the previous week.
